Puggy Goodness

It's almost time!! AHHHH! We are getting our little puppy on Sunday! Just a couple more days..I can't believe it! I have to call the breeder tomorrow and figure out exactly where we are going to meet. Afterwards we are going to Oxmoor Mall in Louisville, which is going to be super fun too! I'm not sure how I will sneak the little puggy in but I will figure out something I have no doubt, lol! I want to go into Lush and see what new stuff they have for Easter and maybe get a few things. I also want to go into Sephora and just see if anything in there I have to have. I don't plan on spending much though.

Yesterday was an exciting day..I took my psychology final and passed by just 2 points. I was so unbelievably happy! The teacher was crazy, it seemed like no matter what I did she never gave me a good grade for it. The class is over now and I can get caught up on my other 2 classes and breathe easier.

On another note, NAVY PEED IN THE POTTY!! WOOHOO! He peed in there THREE times, I was so proud of him. So far I havn't been able to get him to go any but we are headed in the right direction for sure, I just can't believe he did it!

8 more days!

Only 8 more days until I get to pick up our sweet puppy! I am SO excited!!! We have the crate cover coming today and then the only thing left to pick up is his food, which is really exciting. I've been waiting so long it feels like. I have NEVER heard back from the rescue, which is so bizarre. They just acted as though I disappeared.

I've got so much stuff to do this weekend, 2 huge papers to write on top of other homework its going to be a long process and we're all sick. Navy is finally getting better and I got the cold but today was better than yesterday so hopefully tomorrow I'm back to feeling pretty good!

Poor Brody got the worst of it, he finally had to go to the Dr today because he just wasn't getting any better. They said he has a double ear infection and one of his ear drugs was bulging to the point it was almost ready to burst!

I feel so bad for the poor little guy but they prescribed him Augmentin so I'm hoping that he gets better soon, and also hoping that it doesn't upset his stomach because it always did mine and I know that it's common, so fingers crossed!

Doctors and Panties

I decided to take Navy in to see his doctor today after the incident with Brody. I feel hopeless at times on what to do with him. I feel like no one cares or wants to help. Today was actually different, I really felt like the doctor CARED for once. She told me that since he has had so many autism markers in the past that maybe he does have autism. We were referred to a place called Centerstone to have an evaluation and see what they think. I honestly don't know very much about that place but I am holding a lot of hope that they can help us.

She's also supposed to try to speed things up and get us in with Dr. Hersh from Kosairs Children's Hospital. He's supposed to be a specialist in genetics/development/behavior a lot I know, but supposedly he is a top notch doctor. I am so excited for us to meet with him!

After we dealt with all of that we went to Walmart and got 2 packs of big boy panties, woohoo!!! Navy said he would use the potty, I'm not sure I believe him but we are going to try LOL! I also got some more toys for our puppy! I cant believe its just a little more than 2 weeks before we bring him home.

Mama Bear

I feel heartbroken today. Navy was watching a movie and Brody walked in front of the tv and Navy completely lost it! He jumped up and had slammed Brody's face into the entertainment center before I could even stop him. It busted the underneath of his eye open and blood immediately started gushing out. I just don't understand why he does this stuff to him. I didn't take him to the ER since the last time we went (just a few weeks ago!) when he fell off my bed and split open his eyebrow they said it would heal on its own I figured this would too. So I got him all cleaned up and noticed his nose was bleeding as well and he has a huge goose egg on his forehead, I feel horrible! Horrible that one son caused something so horrible to happen to his own brother, and sad that Navy gets so frustrated and he thinks he has to resort to violence to get his point across. Of course I was also sad that Brody had to go through the pain of the whole thing, and his brother always being mean to him.

Snow, Snow, Snow

We have gotten a crazy amount of snow the past two weeks. We got about six inches, which had packed down and melted for the most part until last night we got probably 4-5 more and it isn't supposed to stop until sometime tonight, totaling at around 12 inches.

I'm getting really restless from being in the house so soon because I have so many things I want to do outside the house. I need to get my high school transcripts sent to my new university, I need to take a psychology exam, and I would like to go shopping for my puppy.

Not to mention all my online shopping is getting delayed LMAO! Mother nature, I dont have time for this junk..I've got 5 packages in limbo here.

Guess I should update!

I really don't want to slack off so I guess I should update this huh? Well I have decided to pass on the rescue. I put a lot of thought into the decision and I just don't feel like it's the right option anymore. They place ALL of the dogs who come in who are trailed, healthy, ect with members of their organization and basically all that is left are dogs who are elderly and/or have severe disabilities. I really can't afford to take on a major health problem from a dog. I looked and looked and found a REALLY sweet breeder in Whitley City, KY who we are going to get a puppy from. They have 8 puppies to choose from (what a big litter!) 6 of them are boys, which is great because I really want to get a boy! I already have his name all picked out, Bentley Bowman. I've started picking up things for him here and there but can't wait to go all out on a shopping trip for the little guy. He will be ready to pick up on March 7th.

Whitley City is quite the drive, its almost all the way to Tennessee so the lady was kind enough to meet us an hour from her house, which is great an hour is an hour we can spend at home with our new baby! I think my Mom and/or Kevin are going with me to pick him up. The lady said she does not take deposits so picking out a puppy is first come first serve and I will be there AS SOON as she will let them go to their new homes. She said she would bring all of the puppies with her so I could choose which one I wanted.

I'm supposed to call her back the 20th/20st to plan out all the details and let her know we still want one. I told her I DEF did want one and she took my name and number down. I am soooo excited about getting a puppy! I really wish the rescue would have been easier to work with. It's sad, I still haven't heard from them this week with any information.

This is seriously getting annoying...

I have been trying to be sooo patient and keep my mind on other things, and honestly with school, the super bowl last night, and waiting NOT so patiently for my tax refund and my school aid refund I have barely had time to even think about the Pug adoption. I check my email 50 times a day in hopes of an email but my hopes never get up.

Today, I came home from visiting with my aunt and checked my email, I saw an email from Amy and nearly died of shock, but again just didn't get my hopes up and it's a good thing because she said that the person who did my home study has YET to even send her a report...WHAT!?! It's been almost 2 weeks! She said she would be in contact with her today to ask for the report. Who knows how long it will be once she has the report in hand, I certainly hope not to long, but I will begin nagging again if I have to! LOL

Also, at the home study, Annie told me about the sweet dog "Bo" and I had gotten sort of excited well, after checking the available dogs list I realized he's being adopted out already- great! and then we get to Bella, well her foster mom decided to adopt her once her health clears...so WHY exactly do they post her as available for adoption? I see that as kind of a joke!

I'm sure we will end up with a great dog, they add dogs daily. Still, a lot of these dogs are 7-10 years old, thats just way too old for us. With the boys being rambunctious toddlers an elderly dog is not going to fly around here. I don't expect a puppy but I would like a dog under 6, I don't feel like thats asking too much.

As horrible as all of this sounds, part of my wishes that I had just been able to find an affordable puppy. However, I am NOT going to give up because I really DO want to adopt a dog. I want to give it the great forever home it deserves, whether or not this organization has been a pain, and honestly its not even the rescue, its the one particular person who did my home visit. I almost feel lied to by her. She told me I should have my dog either this weekend or next, obviously that is NOT happening!

Sore teeth (or lack of!)

I finally had my infected tooth extracted yesterday only to find out that I need to have another one taken out soon. The actual process was pretty much a breeze but I had to have 30 numbing shots and needless to say it is so SORE today! I've been feeling really sick off and on today which is horrible to say the least, not sure what is causing the sickness but it sucks big time.

I finally got up to Ivy Tech the other day and tried to find out about my financial aid and why I had that random dropped class. Well first I had all my transcripts sent to VU so I can transfer and start there this summer, which is amazing! I'm super excited about it and I cant wait to actually start the funeral science program.

So I was talking to them and apparently the drop of my Spanish class was just some random drop, and the financial aid office told me that I don't HAVE to add another class in its place since it was their fault it won't affect my financial aid that was great to hear! I decided to just focus on the 3 classes I have left in an attempt to bring up my GPA. One of those classes is only 8 weeks so it will actually be ending soon, which will be very nice.

So today my account zero'd out and hopefully I will receive my refund Monday which should be about 5400 or so! My tax refund is also due later next week so you know what that means....shopping!!! =D

A little of everything!

I really want to expand this blog beyond pugs so I figured today would be a good day to do it. I'm still waiting to hear from Amy about the rest of the adoption process, I did email HER because I am not patient enough to wait, so I am waiting for a reply.

I've been trying to decide what new makeup to get. For whatever reason my skin has been crazy lately, I've been having breakouts, but mostly extra pigment is showing through my skin. I really don't know what the cause is, and I haven't had it be an issue since I was a kid, but little blue and purple lines/flecks show through and I HATE that!

So I asked for recommendations on Facebook, did a ton of research, which led me to this girl Tiffany D on YouTube! She also has a blog here on blogger, if you haven't seen that I totally recommend checking it out she reviews stuff and has a ton of awesome tutorials! Anyway..all that inspired me to decide to totally overhaul my makeup collection which has totally been all drug store make up until now. I guess I'm just getting too old and my skin isn't working with it anymore, I have always had NO problems with it up until now!

So here it is "The List" I love making lists and I actually made one on notebook paper to keep track because it ended up being way too much to even remember

1. Make up forever Mat Velvet+ this foundation looks GREAT and I am dying to try it out, it's pretty expensive but I'm hoping it will be the answer to my coverage issues.

2. Make up forever Best of Set- This has a ton of stuff, eye liner, mascara, makeup remover, a primer, and also this amazing HD powder!

3. MAC studio finish concealer- nuff said!

4. MAC select moisture cover- ditto!

5. Sigma brush set- This brush set is to die for! It's $89 and they have it in pink and black, but it comes with 12 brushes all of which are supposed to be just as good, if not better than MAC brushes!

6. Coastal Scents Contour and Blush Set- I had never heard of Coastal Scents but they have this AMAZING set of make ups and brushes and its all pretty cheap and supposed to be REALLY pigmented!

7. 88 palette- This is an awesome set of eyeshadows for $19! Cant beat it!

8. 88 palette warm- another set of warm shadows!

Obviously this is going to cost a fortune, but I never buy myself anything, and I SO WANT THIS! Plus, like kevin said, I never buy myself anything, and I'm totally worth it! ; )

APPROVED!!

YAY!!! I had my home visit and I'm APPROVED! I am so excited and happy! Annie was super nice and recommended the dog "Bo" from the website, so I guess it is either between him or a dog named Bella. Bella is on medical hold, so I'm not sure what is up with that. Annie said she wasn't exactly sure WHY she was on medical hold because she wasn't familiar with her. She said it could be as simple as her needing to be spayed or just being treated for heart worms and that she likely would be available soon! I would be more than willing to wait because she looks like a PERFECT fit for our family.

I'm going to start blogging more about things other than pugs, so today is a perfect start. Today the boys met Kevin's parents and things went off so well! They really got along great with his parents and his nephew Jack. Brody loved playing with him and it was so cute to see him playing with someone his age for the first time. Brody was a little shy at first but he forgot all about it when he saw the dogs, then he was running around playing and getting into everything. By the end of the day Navy was sitting on Kevin (Sr's!) lap!

Homestudy!!!!

AHHHH! I am so excited! I got the email today letting me know that I am going to have my home study on FRIDAY! I've got some serious cleaning to do before then. I'm sure this isn't as big of a deal as I am making it out to be but I don't want to take any chances! Maybe we will have a pug sooner than I thought, they just keep adding more and more to the adoption list so it certainly seems so.

I'm not as patient as I thought!

I'm supposed to hear back within THREE days, and I am so not patient! I just know that it is going to be late and I will have to email the coordinator Amy about it. They haven't contacted any of my references yet. =( I thought I wouldn't mind waiting but those pugs look so darn cute staring back at me! I don't know how people adopting children occupy themselves, but I am glad I'm keeping this blog, I know my friends and family don't really want to listen to me whine about how long my pug adoption is taking! LOL

Hopefully it won't take too long to get the home study set up. They acted as if that would be the longest part, several new pugs have been put up on the adoptable pug list as well as several who have now been listed as "Adoption Pending", so they must really get moving once you are approved!

Still waiting for word back from KPR! It said the application could take up to 2 weeks to process, and while I know that, its going to be a long 2 weeks!

Beginning the Adoption Process

I decided that I'd like to blog my journey to adding another member to our family, no not a baby, a Pug. I've been trying to decide for some time what kind of pet would be good for my son Navy, as well as his brother Brody. Navy has special needs and I think that a pet to help care for and be there for him would be a great source of comfort and calming for him.

Andrew's mom has a Pug named Pete. Before Pete, getting a pug would have never crossed my mind, I have never been overly fond of the breed or had them cross my mind much but Pete has these huge brown eyes that could melt anyones heart, I knew right then the breed would be perfect! I researched them and found that they are great dogs for children which is even better.

I automatically started looking at puppies, and saw so many cute ones! Then Andrew told me that I should get a dog from the humane society and rescue one. I thought, "No way! I want a pug!" But he began to tell me all the advantages, they are already spayed/neutered, they are older so you don't have to deal with puppy issues, you already know what their temperament is like, and the biggest advantage of all, you are saving a life!

So I decided to Google, "Indiana pug rescue", and wouldn't you know it I found one! I really wasn't expecting to but I found Kentuckiana Pug Rescue (KPR) right away! I have been looking over the website for days and it seems absolutely perfect! I submitted the application tonight and got the process going. I specified we'd like any dogs aged 1-6 but I wouldnt mind adopting a little older than that, and that sex wasn't an issue! Below is the auto response I got back! I am so excited and can't wait to hear back from them in a couple of weeks, I certainly hope we are approved!

Hello - my name is Amy and I am the Indiana Adoption Coordinator for Kentuckiana Pug Rescue. We have received your application and will begin processing it. Please understand that this can take time, we are an all volunteer organization and all of us have jobs, families, and dogs of our own to take care of, as well as our KPR responsibilities. If you have not heard from someone in two weeks, please email me at this address and let me know so that I can find out what is going on with your application.

How the process works - we will check your references and if they are good, we will then ask for a volunteer to do your home visit. Depending on where you live, it can take some time to find someone to do the home visit. Once a volunteer has stepped forward, they will contact you to set up the home visit at a time that is convenient for both of you. Once the home visit has been conducted, the KPR volunteer will contact me and let me know if you are approved to adopt and what kind of dog they think will work best in your home. I will then contact you and we will begin to work on finding a dog for you. Please understand, again, that this all takes time. If you are applying for a younger dog, especially a younger female, it might take a while for the right dog to come into the rescue as these are the most popular dogs and everyone wants to adopt them. Once your home visit is completed and you are approved, please direct all questions regarding the adoption process to me, at this email address, and not to the volunteer who did your visit. The volunteer that does your home visit is not involved in the adoption process in any way other than to conduct the home visit, and will not be able to answer questions regarding the process.

Also, even though you may have applied for a specific dog there is no guarantee that this is the dog that you will be able to adopt. We may already have an approved applicant who is interested in adopting the dog and could already be working on a placement. Many times this is the case, especially for the younger dogs. This is why we recommend that you go ahead with a home visit even if you are not sure you are ready to adopt right away - it can take some time to find the right dog and if your home visit is already done, then you are one step ahead in the process and when the right dog does come along you will be ready to go. Approved applicants will be considered for adoption before new applicants.

Please feel free to email me with any questions that you have about the adoption process. It is my job to help you during this process and I am glad to do so, in any way that I can. Thank you so much for wanting to help one of our pugs find a forever home.

Again, please be patient - this process takes time!

Amy
